Presence Yoga Class Descriptions
Presence Yoga offers balanced yoga classes for all levels of flexibility and practice. Yoga classes with Presence Yoga involve centering, warm ups, holding postures (asana) to heat the body, a period of cooling, followed by a deep relaxation. Intention and guided imagery may be used from time to time. Modifications and props are always available to assist with flexibility. Some benefits of a balanced yoga session include: tone and strength in the body, a flexible spine, clarity of mind, ability to focus and concentrate, and awareness of will. Yoga is for everyone. Lunchtime Hatha Yoga
Let Lunchtime Hatha Yoga help bring you out of your morning and prepare you for the afternoon's activities. This gentle, yet invigorating 50 minute class combines breath awareness and centering activities with gentle flowing yoga poses and mild sun salutations (asana). It explores standing poses, inversions, backbends and balancing sequences to help develop core awareness and strength. Lunchtime Yoga is very appropriate for all levels of flexibility. Give yourself a yoga break in the middle of your day!

Presence Yoga KIDS
Presence Yoga KIDS inspires creativity and imagination through active play and movement. Each class explores traditional yoga principles while reinforcing content areas like science and ecology, math, social studies, and reading. Presence Yoga KIDS also enhances internal and external social skills. Among children and young people, yoga can be especially helpful in establishing positive self-esteem and developing an internal sense of will to help them manage the pressures they may face. Appropriate for children ages 3+

Gentle Hatha Yoga
Gentle Hatha Yoga is a 75 minute class appropriate for those new to yoga or the more experienced practitioner interested in a gentle session. It teaches the classic yoga postures (asana), fostering an understanding of body alignment and movement. Breath awareness and endurance are developed through guided breathing exercises (pranayama). Gentle Hatha Yoga helps cultivate mindfulness, concentration, and will. Modifications and props are always available to assist with flexibility. This class helps you incorporate yoga into your physical body and learn the language of yoga.

Slow Flow Hatha Yoga
Slow Flow Hatha Yoga extends the principles of the Yoga Foundations class while discussing fluidity in movement and breathing. This 90 minute session begins with centering and warm ups, then moves to a soft vinyasa (flowing sequence - movement with breath). Sun Salutations are included, and asanas are held slightly longer in this class. Slow Flow Hatha Yoga also involves abdominal strengthening and a stronger standing sequence. Floor work includes hip openers and backbends, and inversions are explored. The Slow Flow Hatha Yoga session ends with a period of cooling and deep relaxation (savasana). Modifications and props are always available to assist with flexibility. This class is appropriate for those who have some yoga experience and are developing an understanding of breath and body awareness and control. Attending Yoga Foundations is a prerequisite for those new to yoga.

Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa Yoga extends the principles of the Slow Flow Hatha Yoga class. This 90 minute session begins with centering and warm ups then moves to a more vigorous vinyasa (flowing sequence). Similar to the Slow Flow Hatha Yoga class, Vinyasa Yoga incorporates abdominal strengthening, a strong standing sequence, hip openers, and backbends. It includes repetition of Sun Salutations and longer held asanas. Inversions and arm pressure balances are also explored. The yoga session ends with a period of cooling and deep relaxation (savasana). Modifications and props are available to assist with flexibility. Vinyasa Yoga is appropriate for those who have yoga experience and have developed breath and body awareness and control.
