Slow Flow Hatha Yoga
Slow Flow Hatha Yoga extends the principles of the Yoga Foundations class, while introducing fluidity in movement and breathing. This 90 minute session begins with centering and warm ups, then moves to a soft vinyasa (flowing sequence - movement with breath). We practice Sun and Moon Salutations, and asanas are held slightly longer in this class. Slow Flow Hatha Yoga includes abdominal strengthening and a stronger standing sequence. Floor work involves hip openers and backbends. Inversions are explored. The session ends with a period of cooling and deep relaxation (savasana). Modifications and props are always available to assist with flexibility. Slow Flow Hatha Yoga is appropriate for those who have some yoga experience and are developing an understanding of breath and body awareness and control. Attending Yoga Foundations is a prerequisite for those new to yoga.
